How should my child dress for class?

Students should always be comfortable in what they wear to class. That being said, MMDC encourages dancers to wear proper dance attire for class.

For Ballet Class, proper attire for girls is a leotard and ballet skirt or Ballet dress with dance tights (pink, white or black) and proper ballet slippers. For boys, proper attire consists of a white t-shirt, black stretch pants or leggings and black ballet slippers.

For Tap, dancers should wear Tap shoes that fit properly with a secure buckle or shoe lace. If shoes are too big they can slip off during movement which can contribute to injury.

For Hip Hop, dancers should wear stretchy and lightweight clothing. Sneakers are highly encouraged for this class. If your child is wearing footwear specific to the weather (sandals, rain boots, snow boots), please pack sneakers in their bag. Dancing in the proper footwear helps to keep children safe and they will be able to participate comfortably in all aspects of the class.
